Eston Hills ‘Factory Night’

Wonderful time at Rednile’s Eston Hills Factory Night. Some great photos of the day here: www.rednile.org.

First time on Eston Nab exploring ironstone mining, Napoleonic beacons and Iron Age hill forts. Lovely to be home and seeing, listening and talking about the history of the area. Fell for the sky, light and landscape of that wonderful middle-land all over again! There must be magic up in the Cleveland hills pulling me in and leaving me dreaming of the Moors beyond!

Started thinking about walking and belonging, landscape, the sacred and the soul. Read Bruce Chatwin’s The Songlines. Watched Rabbit Fence. Made a few simple word drawings. Inspired by an artist walking and letterpress-ing. Watch this space for a project later this year…..
